My first semester taking ECE classes at NJCU (Fall 2016)

This is my first semester taking ECE classes at NJCU, my alma mater. I got my BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing in August of 2015. I love the classes so far. I will be observing a special needs toddler named Amelia. She will be three years old in January at The Goddard School in Hamilton, NJ (Robbinsville) starting next Monday. I will go to observe Amelia five Mondays in a row from 9am-noon to do my observing. I called a Christian preschool to see if I can do my other field experience there and they said they would call me back sometime this week. Other than finishing up some assigned reading that I plan to do today, Friday and Saturday I have a five page paper to write about the book I chose, Kwanzaa and Me due to submit next week for ECE 210.

NJCU Alumni Day: Hello Edi!

On Saturday September 24, 2016 it was NJCU Alumni Day. I graduated with my degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing in August 2015. I attended two Memoir Workshops that day taught by Edi Giunta! I generated some new writing. I am writing a book length memoir or working on a book/memoir project. I already have 50 pages including the memoir A Tale of Three Half Sisters the 4,000 word memoir I wrote in Edi’s Advanced Memoir class back in the Spring of 2015. I generated a new piece called Mabel about my great-grandmother that is going to be a 10-15 page contained piece that I will be working on with my book project: Ayesha’s story [The Schizophrenia Memoirs]! Oh and a young Caucasian woman who said she remembered me was at NJCU Alumni Day and at the workshop too. She said she remembered me though I wasn’t quite sure if I remembered her. She teaches 7th and 8th grade English too! I thought oh what a nice job!

NJCU Alumni Day/Homecoming (Edi Giunta) gave two Memoir workshops!

I went to NJCU Day yesterday September 24,2016 and I saw Edi.It was Homecoming for NJCU Alumni. One of the young women that came to the workshop taught by Edi Giunta said she remembered me from Memoirfest at Edi’s house back in December 2014, May 2015 or December 2015. She was Caucasian and very thin and she told us she taught 7th and 8th grade English. I told Edi I was a new Early Childhood Education major. She said oh nice! Edi encouraged me to use a free write I wrote during the workshop on 09/24/2016 about Mabel my great grandmother and she said the free writing I did about Mabel my great grandmother has potential to become a 10-15 page contained memoir piece. I am writing a book length memoir that will be 40,000 words by January 2017 if not by June 2017. The title of my memoir is Ayesha’s Story (The Schizophrenia Memoirs). The final draft will be 60,000-70,000 words Edi said for it to be a book length memoir.

My goal for January 2017: 40,000 word memoir piece (probably 120 pages)

I made my goal word count for January 2017 and it is 40,000 words. I am going to go for it! I have 48 pages so far. I will work on my memoir for the rest of the year. In January I’ll check Facebook to see when Edi announces the next meeting of the NJCU (Memoir) Writers Workshop. I’ll print out my memoir at the library and make the necessary changes on paper and then probably reprint my memoir just before the meeting time is set for the NJCU (Memoir) Writers Workshop in January 2017. I will see Edi at 10am this Saturday for Alumni Day. She’s having a 9am and a 10am workshop and I said I will be there for the 10am workshop.

September 15, 2016 NJCU WritersWorkshop: I was there early and stayed until the end.

I attended the workshop and I stayed until the end. Edi snapped two photos of the participants me and four or five others. I am already thinking about Saturday September 24th Alumni Day. Edi is having a memoir writing workshop at 10am this Saturday. My mom said she would drive me up to NJCU. I am really looking forward to seeing Edi again this Saturday at the workshop! I am writing my memoir and I will keep going.

September 15, 2016 next NJCU Writers Workshop meeting from 7pm to 9pm

I hope to have 70-75 pages typed by Labor Day weekend. Now I have about 50 pages typed. I’m hoping to have 120 pages typed by December 2016 if not by June 2017. I am typing parts one and two of Ayesha’s Story (The Schizophrenia Memoirs). Part three is about my 30s so it is the freshest in my mind. I don’t know if Edi will ask us to send our work to her via email. If not I’ll just bring all 70-75 typed pages on September 15, 2016. I am really happy that I am writing my memoir! In another year or two I will have the first draft of a book length memoir.

NJCU Writers Workshop to meet September 15, 2016 on campus.

I am so excited about the second meeting of the NJCU Writers Workshop. I am a part of it! Edi Giunta is such an amazing woman and professor of memoir. I like her a lot. She gave me the first A I ever received  while I was a transfer student at NJCU.  My goal is to have 25,000 words by Labor Day weekend. Oh and I will submit Assignment Two for my writing for children and teenagers course and start on Assignment Three.

1st meeting of NJCU Writers Workshop

Edi said “yes Ayesha” when I sent her an email if I could just pick up where I left off with my Schizophrenia Autobiography I wrote in her two Memoir classes and so I will. My goal is to have 100 typed written pages by Labor Day weekend 2016 around when we have our 2nd meeting of the new NJCU Writers Workshop!  I am writing my memoir. Ayesha’s Story is the title of my book (my book length memoir). It should be 200 pages at least but maybe more. The structure may change but as it is Part One is 100 pages, Part Two is 50 + pages and Part Three is 50 + pages. (Edi said “Ayesha” the structure may change).
